» How are you going to make your printed inserts?
Printing inserts for your CD/DVD jobs is one of the challenges for a beginning duplication facility. There are many ways to create your inserts, and you should choose a method that works best for your budget and schedule. We’ve helped set up duplication facilities many times, and we can recommend the equipment and supplies you need as a startup company. The main tasks you have to consider are:

-          How to set up the artwork
-          What printer you should use
-          How to cut the inserts
-          How to score and perforate for insertion

Setting up the artwork

For this you’ll need a program such Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop so you can import, export, and edit files. This way, your customers can provide you with their artwork on a disc or e-mail and you can set it up in a template.

Printing the inserts

To print the inserts, you’ll need a laser or inkjet printer. The size and type of printer you use should be appropriate to the quantity of inserts you plan to print and your budget.

Cutting the inserts

You’ll need an industrial size cutter that can handle large quantities of cutting. The templates you use for your art will also include crop marks that show where the cutting should be done. The Martin Yale Commercial Stack Cutter is an ideal tool for cutting large quantities of inserts.

Scoring and Perforating

Before inserting into the CD jewel case, you will need to score and perforate your inserts. The tray card has two small spines, and the front insert is often folded in half. The Intimus Score and Perf Machine prepares your inserts for folding very rapidly since it scores several inserts per second. mysp100_120_01

We also provide CD/DVD inserts that fit into standard CD jewel cases and DVD cases, as well as templates for them.
